South Side’s 2022 baseball season ended Friday night with a 7-4 home loss to Montgomery Central in a Class 3A sectional game.
A win would have sent the Hawks to the state tournament for the first time since 2010. Instead, the Hawks end the season with a final overall record of 28-12.
Montgomery Central took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. South Side answered with four runs in the bottom of the second inning for a 4-1 lead.
Montgomery Central scored one run in the third inning, four in the fourth inning and one in the seventh inning to secure the win. Montgomery Central finished with nine hits and committed one error.
The Hawks finished with four ends and committed no errors.
Cannon Price and Kaden Senter each had two hits for South Side.
